چکیده

The World Wide Web has become a phenomenon that now influences our everyday life in any possible areas and disciplines. This paper investigates how a grid equivalent of the WWW, the World Wide Grid can be created. We define requirements towards a workflow-oriented computational World Wide Grid and propose a solution how current production Grids can be connected in order to form the technical basis of this infrastructure. A metabroker concept and its utilization to achieve the highest level of parallelism by the created architecture in a user transparent way are explained.

Towards a scientific workflow-oriented computational World Wide Grid

This paper describes a potential roadmap establishing a scientific, workflow-oriented, computational World Wide Grid (WWG). In order to achieve such a WWG the paper suggests three major steps. First, create uniform metabrokers and connect existing production Grids by them in order to form the WWG infrastructure where existing production Grids become interoperable at the job submission level. Se...

Investigating peer-to-peer meta-brokering in Grids

Grid Computing has succeeded in establishing production Grids serving various user communities all around the world. The emerging Web technologies have already affected Grid development; the latest solutions from peer-topeer networking also need to be considered in order to successfully transform the currently separated production Grids to a World-Wide Grid solving the big problem of Grid Inter...

The not so smart, smart grid – potential security risks associated with the deployment of smart grid technologies

The electricity grid has been up until now a relatively stable artifice of modern industrialized nations. The power grids are the most widespread wired networks in the world. They are heavily regulated and standardized to protect the integrity, stability and reliability of supply. The grids have been essentially closed systems, this is now rapidly changing with the introduction of the network e...

GMBS: A new middleware service for making grids interoperable

Grid resource management has been a highly studied research field since Grids were born. Though well-designed, evaluated and widely used resource brokers and meta-schedulers have been developed, new capabilities are still required, while the most wanting is interoperability support. Most of the existing brokering solutions can hardly cross the borders of current middleware systems that are lack...

A Case for the World Wide Grid: Interlinking Islands of Grids to Create an Evolvable Global Cyberinfrastructure

This paper presents a case for what we call the World Wide Grid (WWG) and identifies some research areas that deserve special attention to enable such scenario. Over the last few years, several organizations have set up their own Grids to share resources such as computers, data, and instruments. Countries have created e-Science projects to enable resource sharing and collaboration among scienti...
